One person dead after single-car crash in Groton

Zachary Brafman, from Cortland, was pronounced dead at the scene where his vehicle crashed and rolled over on Cemetery Lane in the town of Groton.

ITHACA, N.Y. — One person was killed in a single-car crash on Friday in Groton.

Tompkins County Sheriff Derek Osborne announced the crash over the weekend. He said 21-year-old Zachary Brafman, from Cortland, was pronounced dead at the scene where his vehicle crashed and rolled over on Cemetery Lane in the town of Groton. The crash was reported around 8:55 p.m. on Friday evening.

Details of the crash were not released. Brafman’s car was the only vehicle involved in the crash, according to Osborne.

Osborne said his deputies were helped on scene by the McLean Fire Department, Freeville Fire Department, Groton Ambulance and the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
