Oct. 2 — Constitution Party presidential candidate Randall Terry, despite not being on the ballot in New York, held a news conference in Binghamton to campaign against Proposition One, a New York state measure aimed at expanding equal rights protections. Terry, who is on the ballot in 12 states, strongly criticized the proposition, calling it “evil” and likening it to something from a horror movie. His campaign ads, which focus on his anti-abortion stance and opposition to gender reassignment surgery for children, are being aired in several states, including swing states.

Terry’s candidacy is less about winning the presidency and more focused on influencing key issues such as defeating Proposition One in New York and similar measures in Florida and Missouri. He targets pro-life Democrats, aiming to sway votes in swing states.

One Binghamton attendee said Terry represents values that he feels have been abandoned by the Democratic party, particularly on issues of faith and traditional values.

Meanwhile, Democrats, like Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, argue that Proposition One would protect individuals from discrimination based on ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and other categories.
