VFP Inc., a producer of custom-designed enclosures that protect infrastructure for telecommunications, public safety radio, data centers and utility projects, will invest $5 million to expand its Scott County manufacturing operations. The expansion in Duffield will create at least 50 jobs over three years, VFP President and CEO Scott File said Tuesday.VFP Inc. Glenn Youngkin, who said in a news release that the expansion will help VFP better serve the growing data center market. Virginia competed with Louisiana and Missouri for the project, the release states.“The success of long-term corporate partners like VFP Inc. is a prime example of what can be accomplished in Virginia,” Youngkin said in the release. “Virginia’s robust data center industry relies on manufacturers like VFP, and those synergies have created a robust ecosystem of partners and suppliers.”In 2025, VFP will celebrate 60 years of building design and manufacturing and providing pre-manufactured structures, File said. The company’s corporate headquarters is in Roanoke, and its manufacturing facilities are in Duffield, on a four-building campus. Two of those buildings will be expanded: the one where structures are fabricated, so VFP can produce more and bigger buildings, and the one where outfitting is done because the company is increasing its lines so more space is needed, he said.Over the last two years, File said the company has doubled its employee numbers, which now total 430, with 350 workers at the Duffield property. File said he expects that the company will continue to grow.He attributes the growth to listening to each customer and giving them what they need.“Our products are customer-driven,” he said. “It’s not mass-produced — it’s produced off of what the customers need, and if you meet their needs, that allows you to grow because they can see you as somebody they can count on to fulfill their projects.”He also praised the company’s employees and noted that VFP is an employee stock ownership plan company that is 100% owned by its employees. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with Scott County to secure the project for Virginia, according to the news release. Youngkin approved a $75,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund to help with the project. The Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority, or VCEDA, earlier approved a $100,000 grant for workforce development on the VFP expansion, according to Jonathan Belcher, VCEDA’s executive director/general counsel. The post Custom building manufacturer will invest $5 million, add 50 jobs in Scott County expansion appeared first on Cardinal News.
