Adrienne Posner, of Ithaca, NY, passed away on October 13, 2024, after an eleven-month battle with brain cancer. She spent her last days in her home, peacefully resting, and in the company of family and friends.Adrienne is survived by her loving husband George; her daughters Rebecca Christian and Prema Wayland; her sons-in-law Nathan Christian and Jamil Wayland; her grandchildren George and Thomas Christian and Ellie, Alex, and Avery Wayland; and her dog Charlotte.Adrienne was born in Amsterdam, NY on January 30, 1948, the only child of Anthony and Eleanor Spagnola. She married George, the love of her life, on June 7, 1970, and moved to Ithaca in 1973, purchasing the same house where they raised their daughters and continued to make a loving home until her passing. She was an accomplished choreographer working for nearly 40 years in children’s theater. Although her award-winning work was based in New York’s Capital District, her work was performed around the world including Israel, Russia, France, the Vatican, Jordan, and Washington DC.Adrienne was a beloved mother and grandmother, and devoted much of her time travelling to support her grandchildren in all their various activities in Livonia, NY and Riverside, CT. She spent many of her winters skiing with George and her family and friends at their house in Deer Valley, Utah and her summers enjoying the sounds of the ocean at their longtime family house in Pine Point, Maine. When she wasn’t spending time with family, Adrienne spent countless hours volunteering with various organizations throughout the city of Ithaca. She especially loved to help at the Immaculate Conception food pantry, where she was a radiant personality loved by both volunteers and those in need of help. She also loved to garden and, besides the magnificent plantings at her own home, spent a lot of her energy and creativity making her community more beautiful with the Ithaca Garden Club.Calling hours will be held Thursday, October 24 from 4-7 pm at Herson-Wagner Funeral Home; 110 South Geneva St., Ithaca, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, October 25 at the Immaculate Conception Church; 113 N. Geneva St., Ithaca, NY.
