We know there are dozens of non-profits asking for donations during the holiday season, and plenty of them are worthy of your support. But here at The Ithaca Voice, we like to think there aren’t many other organizations that provide our community something you need every day free of charge

If you’re signed up for our newsletter, you know that each morning the day’s headlines are delivered to your inbox, helping you to start the day as up-to-date as possible. Even for those who aren’t on our mailing list, thousands of people read our news each day, and we are grateful for each of you.

But the truth remains that only a small percentage of our daily readers also donate to our cause. Since our end-of-year campaign started in November, nearly 600 people have contributed — a record-breaking number for us — yet over 273,000 unique visitors have accessed our site during that period. Less than one percent of the people who have read our articles, all of which are free for anyone to access, have taken the crucial step of investing in the future of your local news.

We are community-supported, and we need that community to help us reach our end-of-year fundraising goals. We are striving to raise $75,000 to close out 2024, and we still have a ways to go during the last two weeks of the year.
