LANSING, N.Y. – Authorities from the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Village of Cayuga Heights Police Department and the New York State Police, responded to a reported theft on Nov. 9 at 11:04 a.m. at a business in the 2300 block of N. Triphammer Road.

Upon arrival, deputies encountered two suspects linked to an ongoing multi-county theft investigation. The male suspect, identified as Robert A. Snyder, 25, of Lansing, N.Y., was detained without incident outside the business. The female suspect, Victoria E. Rose, 29, of Pennsylvania, was observed leaving the business and moving erratically among vehicles in the parking lot.

As deputies approached Rose, she allegedly entered an unoccupied vehicle that was not hers, started the engine, and accelerated in reverse, striking a deputy. The deputy was knocked to the ground but reported no injuries. The vehicle then collided with another parked car before Rose fled the scene at high speed.

Rose was located shortly afterward in a nearby parking lot north of N. Triphammer Road. Deputies observed her abandoning the vehicle and attempting to escape on foot. A deputy apprehended her, but during the arrest, Rose allegedly struck the deputy multiple times in the head. The deputy sustained minor injuries during the confrontation.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Rose had reportedly stolen the vehicle with keys taken from inside the business.

Both Rose and Snyder are currently held at the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office. Charges are pending, and further information will be released as the investigation progresses.
