ITHACA, N.Y. — On Oct. 22, New York State Police in Ithaca arrested 28-year-old Ross Haley of Syracuse for Grand Larceny in the fourth degree, a class “E” felony.

An investigation revealed that in 2022, Haley engaged in a text conversation with an unknown victim. During the exchange, the victim believed he received sexually explicit photos of an adult. Haley then claimed the images were of a nude teenager and demanded money to prevent police involvement. The victim ultimately paid Haley $1,300 via Venmo.

Haley was processed at State Police Ithaca before being transported to the Tompkins County Correctional Facility for centralized arraignment.
