It’s been at least 40 years of East Akron Labor Day Parades for ShaRonda Sammons, who said she used to attend with her mother. For the last 24, she simply walks from her house on Delos Street to South Arlington Street to attend.Sammons was out Monday with her friends, Kim Murray and Monique Scott, to cheer on the day’s marchers, made up of lots of kids on cheer teams and youth footballers, among others.The parade stepped off at 10 a.m. from 550 S. Arlington St. and continued south to Concord Avenue. The historic event, which started in 1972, is sponsored by the East Akron Neighborhood Development Corp.
