ITHACA, N.Y. — The Ithaca Police Department announced the arrest of two people accused of burglaries over the last week.
A press release from Sgt. Thomas Condzella stated that both suspects are facing second-degree burglary charges for separate incidents that occurred on July 27 and July 29.
The first incident was initially reported on July 27 as a person chasing another person down North Tioga Street. When police responded they found that a homeowner had been chasing a person who had burglarized their house. Police then apprehended the suspect without incident.
Elliot Gagnon, of Ithaca, was charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony. Gagnon was remanded to Tompkins County Jail on $10,000 cash/$20,000 bond.
On July 29, around 10:30 p.m., police responded to the 100 block of Cook Street for a burglary report. The caller reported that a laptop was stolen, though police were able to track the computer with a built-in GPS tracker.
The tracker led police to the 300 block of East State Street, where 36-year-old Larry Payne Jr., of Ithaca, was arrested in possession of the computer. Payne was charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony, and additional undisclosed offenses.
Payne was arraigned and remanded to Tompkins County Jail.
