Dryden, NY – The Dryden Central School District has decided to cancel classes on Friday in response to threats made against the district. Superintendent Joshua Bacigalupi promptly notified students’ families and staff members via email about the situation. In order to ensure the safety and well-being of the school community, district officials contacted law enforcement to initiate an investigation.
Although the nature of the threats did not specifically identify any individuals or buildings within the district, classes were canceled as a precautionary measure. Superintendent Bacigalupi emphasized that, despite the low probability of an actual incident occurring, the district’s leadership team deemed it necessary to prioritize the safety of students and staff members during the ongoing investigation.
The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office has been informed about the situation, and the primary responsibility for the investigation lies with the New York State Police. No official comments have been provided by Superintendent Bacigalupi or the state police spokesperson regarding the incident.
Parents, students, and staff members are encouraged to stay updated on the situation through official communications from the school district. Further information regarding the resumption of classes will be communicated in due course.
