Scott Perry (R-10th District), doubling his haul over the last three months. Stelson, a former longtime anchor at WGAL-TV in south-central Pennsylvania, who secured 43% of the vote to win the six-candidate race for the Democratic Party nomination in April, raised just under $1.34 million from April 4 to the end of June, while spending $415,000.Perry’s campaign raised just under $625,000 from April 4 to the end of June, while spending just over $345,000, campaign finance records show. Stelson now holds a cash on hand advantage over Perry, a change from the previous campaign finance report in April. She entered July with $1.11 million on hand, while Perry’s campaign began the month with just under $790,000. Perry, a former chair of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, ran unopposed in the GOP primary and is seeking a seventh term in Congress. At this point in the previous cycle, Perry held a significant cash advantage over his Democratic challenger Shamaine Daniels. In July 2022, Perry’s campaign had $920,000 on hand, while Daniels had $55,000. Perry defeated Daniels in that race by 7 points. Last year, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) named Perry’s seat one several it is hoping to flip in 2024.National ratings outlets, like the Cook Political Report and Inside Elections, rate this race as “leans Republican,” compared to other seats held by GOP incumbents in Pennsylvania, which are all ranked as “likely Republican” and “solid Republican.” The analyses suggest the seat is potentially “flippable” for a Democratic candidate. The post Democratic challenger Janelle Stelson doubles Scott Perry’s Q2 haul appeared first on Pennsylvania Capital-Star.
